Virtual Lit Fix: Kindred

Cozby Library and Community Commons, Online

This month we will discuss a modern classic- Octavia Butler's 1979 sci-fi/fantasy masterpiece, Kindred.  We will explore how a shy little girl with a passion for writing blossomed into America's first African American sci-fi/fantasy author.  Butler was a multiple award winning writer who explored issues of race and gender in imaginative ways.  Kindred is one of her most famous works and utilizes time travel to put a twist on historic narratives of enslaved people.  As with all Lit Fix programs, you don't need to have read the work to participate, just come with a curious mind.

This program is designed primarily for adults; however teens age 15 and up are also welcome to attend. Space is limited and registration is required. Register here:

Note: The program will be hosted in Zoom, a video conference software that is free for participants. Zoom meeting details will be sent to registrants the day before the program. The Zoom video conference is considered a virtual Library facility. Participants must adhere to the Library Facility Guidelines while attending.
