Republic Services, the City of Coppell's refuse and recycling collection provider, has implemented temporary changes in their services in order to keep their employees safe and healthy during the COVID-19 public health emergency. At this time, there are no changes to the regular trash and recycling collection schedule.
The City is Coppell strongly encourages community cooperation to keep these essential service providers safe. The following measures have been temporarily implemented to reduce the risk of exposure to COVID-19 and keep Republic Service employees fit to serve the community. Unless otherwise specified, these changes take effect immediately and will continue until further notice. These changes are a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, and Republic Services will resume normal operations once it is deemed safe to do so.
ALL regular waste MUST be bagged. Waste may also be bagged and placed in a containerized refuse bin/cart. Republic will not pick up any refuse that is not bagged. Residential customers are allowed a maximum of 10 bags of solid waste per service day. Each bag should weigh no more than 40-pounds.
Recycling may remain loose if placed in a recycling bin.
The bulky item pickup program has been suspended until further notice. Bulk waste consists of any materials not easily contained in a trash bag – and therefore not normally disposed of in a trash bag – such as, but not limited to, swing sets, furniture, oversized acceptable solid waste and brush too large to be cut and packaged per yard trimming guidelines.
Due to the safety concerns related to the bulky trash, City of Coppell staff will not be collecting these items.
In order to ensure that sanitation and public health standards are maintained while also minimizing the impact to residential refuse disposal services, the City of Coppell will temporarily allow residents to drop bulk waste in the temporary dumpsters at the following locations:
The CORE – 234 Parkway Blvd.
Coppell Service Center – 816 S. Coppell Rd. (behind Life Safety Park, 820 S. Coppell Rd.)
Coppell residents may also dispose of waste at the Camelot Landfill, 580 Huffines Blvd., in Lewisville. Call the landfill at 972-492-3888 for hours of operation and requirements. Residents are permitted to dump one-ton of waste per month at the Camelot Landfill, free of charge.
For questions about this change in service, call 972-462-5177.
