Recycling Drive

The library is in need of clean plastic soda bottles and plastic caps for upcoming craft projects. Drop off your clean plastic bottles and caps at the Front Desk.


​Clean Coppell

April 1 - 30​

Take an active role in cleaning up Coppell streets, parks, and neighborhoods! Each April, community groups from all around town come together to organize litter cleanups and beautification projects. In 2018, residents hosted dozens of litter clean-up, spruced up fences, pulled weeds and handed out plant starts. Getting involved is easy! If you have a project that will make our community cleaner and greener, fill out an application here to have the City of Coppell sponsor your supplies. For any questions please reach out to KCB@coppelltx.gov.


​CozbyCon Art Contest

Submit your comic book/anime drawing to win prizes and be featured in the library! Winners will be announced at CozbyCon on May 11. Submission forms will be available online only starting April 1. Coppell Women’s Club General Meeting

This month's speaker is Dallas Morning News "Watchdog" columnist, Dave Lieber. With humor and insight, Dave will be entertaining us with a true Texas comedy about "The Power of a Texas Women's Club to Change the World," a love story about moving from New York City to Texas and finding his wife. Join us for refreshments at 10:30 am, with program to follow at 11 am. All are welcome!


Osteoarthritis Support Group

Are painful joints keeping you from activities you love? Dulce Bhatt, a licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy with a specialty in Geriatrics, will provide a place where people can learn about osteoarthritis, share experiences, and ask questions. Dr. Dulce Bhatt will discuss the pathology and prevalence of osteoarthritis, coping strategies, current evidence on osteoarthritis, guide peer support, assist with finding community resources as applicable, and provide surveys to meet needs of members in a 30-minute session. For seniors ages 50+.

Vendors feature grass-fed meats and poultry, organic eggs, artisan breads, honey and other specialty products. Come out to the Farmers Market to find local healthy food, develop a relationship with those providing your food, meet up with friends and neighbors, and be a part of the local movement. Composting Class

Hosted by Keep Coppell Beautiful, learn the basics of composting, including how to start your pile, “do’s and don’ts of composting” and what to do with the compost you create. The second half of the class will be spent in the garden where you can practice hands-on techniques and view composting piles in different stages of decomposition.

Sensory Storytime

Celebrate EarthFest at the Farmers Market! EarthFest is a celebration of Coppell’s commitment to the environment - an entertaining and educational experience! Visit the many environmental education booths to learn how you can lead a more sustainable lifestyle, collect giveaways and purchase locally sourced goods from the market! Don’t forget to stop by the Play Street Museum truck or Perot Tech Truck and catch a show by Critterman or Professor Branius.

Soles4Souls will be on site to collect gently-worn shoes and the Coppell Middle School East Sustainability Club will be collecting old cell phones and tablets to donate to the Dallas Zoo!

​Coppell Historical Society Meeting

April 13  |   1 pm   |   Heritage Park

The next meeting of the Coppell Historical Society is Saturday, April 13 at 1 pm at Heritage Park (Bethel Road and South Coppell Road) in the Ihnfeldt house. The featured speaker is Margaret Blackmon who will discuss the history and functioning of her CompostHaste service. She collects food scraps and peelings from local residents for a monthly fee, and after six months of collection, the customers receive a free 5 lb bucket of finished compost. Margaret started CompostHaste in Spring 2018, and now her service has become a subsidiary of the non-profit Waste Free World. She hopes to establish a free drop-off location at the Coppell Farmer's Market. All invited guests are welcome to attend this event. Margaret Blackmon will speak at the beginning, and the business portion will begin by 1:30 pm. Guests can stay for both parts, or they may leave after the speaker's presentation.

Hop on over to Coppell’s annual EGGstravaganza event, full of activities including bounce houses, face painting, music, photos with the Bunny and more! Egg hunts begin promptly at their scheduled times. Candy and toy-filled eggs are in abundance at this event, so dust off those baskets and join us for a morning filled with fun! Easter in the Garden

The Zack Thompson Foundation invites parents, family and friends to attend the annual spring planting at Children’s Garden located inside Rolling Oaks Memorial Center. We will be planting flowers, so we encourage all to bring a bedding plant to place in the garden. Examples of flowers that could be planted include petunias, impatiens, begonias, etc. Planting shovels will be provided. ​FCNP Guest Lecture Series – Residential Solar

Solar energy in this country is becoming very affordable and financially attractive. This seminar is about actual residential costs, results, and experiences as gathered from area residents who use solar to offset rising electrical demand. Coppell resident Lou Duggan will share his hands-on experiences with solar from service provider to actual costs and savings. If considering solar, you will want to attend this seminar. ​Severe Weather Awareness with CBS 11 Meteorologist Jeff Ray

Life Safety Park is offering a free Severe Weather Preparedness course for adults on the evening of Thursday, April 25th. With Spring and severe weather at our doorstep, join Life Safety Park and CBS 11 Meteorologist Jeff Ray for an engaging and en”lightning” course on severe weather awareness. Topics covered will include local hazard risk statistics—what weather impacts us most—weather myths and facts, and how you can best prepare yourself and your families for when the weather turns ugly. Learn what a day in the life of a broadcast meteorologist is like. This class will be interactive, so please bring your mobile phone or tablet device! ​“Walk, Stretch, Chill” Wellness Triathlon

Enjoy the beautiful serenity of the outdoors at Andrew Brown Park East for the 3rd annual Wellness Triathlon! The CORE and Living Well in Coppell have partnered again to guide you through a 1-mile walk, stretching with a certified yoga instructor, and finishing with a relaxing meditation session using the ambiance of the outdoors. Join the Biodiversity Education Center for the City Nature Challenge this spring to help document the plants and animals of Coppell Nature Park. This annual event is part of a global effort to see which city can make the most observations of nature, find the most species, and engage the most people. Become a citizen scientist by using your personal mobile device to collect data while exploring the trails. Drop in during visitor hours to learn about the Biodiversity Education Center, Coppell Nature Park and the seasonal programs offered. While you’re here, learn about the local environment through self-guided, hands-on activities, books and other interactive items. Then take what you learn out on the trails to become true EcoExplorers! Check our Facebook page for weekly themes. Open to all ages, but children must be accompanied by an adult. Free admission. No reservations required.

Remembering You: Sharing Our Sibling Stories: A time set apart for teens and adults who have experienced sibling loss to share their journey, what life has been since the death of their sibling, how their sibling’s life and death impacted their own lives, and when sibling loss happens what has helped.
