The City of Coppell is in the process of determining if and how bike lanes might be added to Parkway Blvd. In 2014-2015, a joint committee examined Coppell corridors in relation to pedestrian and bicyclist connectivity, which resulted in a city-wide Pedestrian and Bicycle Master Plan. The Plan identified Parkway as a prime east-west bicycle opportunity. Subsequently, in early-2016 the City hired an engineering firm experienced with converting existing roadways and incorporating bike facilities.
The City Council was presented multiple plans and discussed the options in open meetings, with citizens present who also provided input. Ultimately, a couple of plans were identified as possible options and staff moved forward with scheduling a public meeting to present the plans and receive citizen input.
The design process has now reached the stage of citizen input and the first meeting to begin the discussion with the public was held on October 18, 2016. There will be additional opportunities over the next few weeks for the public to gather and further offer suggestions and provide feedback to the designers and the city staff, which will be relayed to the City Council for consideration. Please watch the web page for the schedule for upcoming meeting(s). Those who attended the first meeting and provided an email address will receive an email invitation to the meeting(s) as they are scheduled.
The presentation that was shared with the audience on October 18 is available for review.
