Coppell Encourages Residents to Participate in Screen-Free Week

Celebrate Screen-Free Week from April 29 through May 5! Children, families, schools, and communities will rediscover the joys of life beyond the screen as they unplug from digital entertainment.

A healthy childhood depends on activity! Through creative play, kids explore their physical world, build their curiosity, and expand their imaginations. But often, time spent on ad-supported screens displaces the kind of creative play kids need to thrive.

The mission of Screen-Free Week is to encourage people, young and old, to take a break from the onslaught of digital media and entertainment for a week to enjoy the world outside the window. Take this week to spend time playing outside, daydreaming, creating, exploring, and connecting with family and friends!

In anticipation of Screen-Free Week, the Cozby Library and Community Commons, 177 N. Heartz Rd., will be offering activity cards at the Library's front desk to log all the fun, non-digital activities residents participated in! At the end of the week (through May 11), residents will be able to return their activity logs for a chance to win an even better card: a gift card!

Along with these cards, the Cozby Library will also be hosting a Screen-Free Game Day to encourage residents to find their fun outside of digital windows. Join them on Saturday, May 4, from 2 – 4 p.m. where they'll play lots of games in the meeting room. All ages welcome!
