Keep Texas Beautiful (KTB), a statewide grassroots environmental and community improvement organization, recently named Keep Coppell Beautiful a Gold Star Affiliate, a designation awarded to only 65 of KTB's almost 400 affiliates in 2018. The Gold Star recognizes individuals, businesses, media outlets and government agencies that have made an impact in their communities and helped make Texas the cleanest, most beautiful state in the nation. It is the highest status any community affiliate can achieve.
In 2017, Keep Coppell Beautiful, KTB national affiliates and their local volunteers contributed 92,250 hours to collect more than 1.6 million pounds of waste, including 3,268 pounds of tires and 136,296 pounds of recycling.
Last year, Keep Coppell Beautiful implemented programs to clean up litter, reduce and recycle waste, beautify the local community and provide free educational programming at the Biodiversity Education Center. Clean Coppell, is an example of such programming. Each April, community groups from across Coppell come together to do litter cleanups and beautification projects. The City of Coppell sponsors supplies for qualifying projects such as Clean Coppell. In 2017, 687 volunteers contributed to this program to spruce up local parks and neighborhoods.
