Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) and prospective Cotton Belt contractors will conduct site visits of the corridor on Thursday, November 30 and Friday, December 1. Residents near the right-of-way may notice vehicles and personnel on or around the corridor on those days, between roughly 7:00 am and 5:00 pm.
Most of the corridor inspection will be done via high-rail vehicles, but there may be some occasions when they will need to exit the vehicles and walk in the corridor. High-rail vehicles can operate on both the road and on the track using special wheels. DART is coordinating with freight railroad operators to use their specialized vehicles on those days. Additionally, since much of the corridor has active freight rail service,
we must coordinate access with them. Please call DART Community Affairs with any questions, 214-749-2522.
ABOUT THE COTTON BELT CORRIDOR
The Cotton Belt corridor extends 26 miles from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport and Shiloh Road in Plano,
and touches seven cities: Plano, Richardson, Dallas, Addison, Carrollton, Grapevine and Coppell. The Cotton Belt will provide passenger rail connections to improve mobility, accessibility, and create system linkages to major employment, population and activity centers in the northern part of the DART Service Area. The Cotton Belt connects with three DART light rail lines: the Red Line in Richardson/Plano, the Green Line in Carrollton and the Orange Line at DFW Airport with additional links to the TEX Rail Regional Rail Line to Fort Worth and the DFW Airport transportation network.
