Screen-Free Week

Celebrate Screen-Free Week! Children, families, whole schools, and communities will rediscover the joys of life beyond the screen. Plan to unplug from digital entertainment and spend all that free time playing, daydreaming, creating, exploring, and connecting with family and friends! Volunteen Mixer

Teens in grades 6 - 12 are invited to our new Volunteen Mixer. They will receive information about teen volunteer opportunities through the City of Coppell, including opportunities at the Library, Life Safety Park, and Biodiversity Center. Teens will have the opportunity to interact with staff members from the organizations and current or former volunteens. Attendees will learn about potential responsibilities, qualifications, and how to apply online. Refreshments and icebreaker games will be part of the event.

CANCELED: Party on the Lawn: Old Town Anniversary Celebration

UPDATE: Raindrops keep fallin’ on our head! Due to all the rainfall we’ve gotten this week and more expected tonight, the Old Town Anniversary Celebration has been canceled. Unfortunately, we aren’t able to reschedule, but we hope you’ll come see us at Summer Splash Bash, the event where water is a good thing!​

The 6th annual Old Town Anniversary Celebration is going to a whole new level! Enjoy a performance by Elevation (an Emerald City band), grab a picture at our outdoor photo booth, enjoy dinner and treats from local gourmet food trucks, dance the night away on our pop-up dance floor, and enjoy lawn games with the whole family!

Vendors feature grass-fed meats and poultry, organic eggs, artisan breads, honey and other specialty products. Water U Doing?:  Water Efficient Sprinklers

Hosted by Keep Coppell Beautiful, what are you doing for your landscape? Save water, money and time by giving your sprinkler system a "spruce up." Come learn how minor do it yourself repairs and simple irrigation tips can make a MAJOR impact on your water waste and your water bill. If you have questions about your controller or how much your lawn and landscape really needs, we've got a stream of info to get your plants looking their best! 2nd Annual Dallas Taste of Hope

May 4  |   7 – 10 pm   |   Venue Forty 50

Make plans to join us for this fun evening of drinks, eats, wine pull, and silent auction as we raise money for brain tumor patients and their families. This is a cocktail party type event with tall bistro tables throughout the venue. Because space is limited, we will only offer four 8-top tables to those who reserve and pay for them in advance.

Tickets are $50 per person, 2 for $85 or reserve a table for 8 for $500. These prices are in effect until April 21, after which they will go up to $60 per person, 2 for $100, and a table for 8 for $600.

Coppell Community Orchestra – Pop, Rock and Jazz Concert

The Coppell Community Orchestra invites those of all ages to their end of season concert on Sunday, May 5,  at 3 pm in the Cozby Library located at 177 N Heartz Rd in Coppell. Admission for this concert is free, though donations are appreciated and tax deductible.

This concert, entitled "Pop, Rock, Jazz" will feature arrangements of both classic and modern traditional crowd favorites. Come join the Coppell Community Orchestra as they close out the season with some Pop, Rock and Jazz. The CCO May concert will entertain and educate those of all ages.

The Coppell Community Orchestra is a non-profit organization that provides educational opportunities for musicians and patrons in and around Coppell. Give Back Night – The Assistance League of Coppell

Bring a friend to the ALC Social on Tuesday, May 7. It's a great way for members and prospective members to visit with each other in a fun environment. The Twisted Root Burger Company in Old Town Coppell will donate 15% of food and beverage purchases made from 5 - 9 pm when customers mention the ALC to the cashier.

Members are guaranteed to be at the restaurant from 5 - 7 pm to socialize. However, if you come later, please be sure to mention the ALC so that our not-for-profit organization will receive the donation from Twisted Root. Sensory Storytime

Coppell ISD Education Foundation Run to Fund 5K and Fun Run

Join us at the annual Run to Fund on Saturday, May 11, 2019. This Coppell community-based 5K timed race and 1-mile fun run will start and finish at Andy Brown East. All 5K and Fun Run registrations include a race t-shirt and $2 from every race entry will be contributed to your CISD Physical Education Department school of your choice. Coppell Community Chorale Spring Concert

Tickets are on sale now for Coppell Community Chorale spring concert series "By George" featuring songs written, sung or otherwise made famous by someone named George. This diverse collection will appeal to music lovers of all ages! Selections include songs from the smash Broadway hit Hamilton, the legendary Beatles, contemporary artist George Ezra and of course, classical contributions of George Handel.

Performance times are Saturday, May 11 at 3 pm and 7 pm and Sunday, May 12 at 3 pm at Coppell Center for the Arts, 157 S. Moore Rd. Tickets are available for advance purchase at www.coppellcommunitychorale.com. Tickets may also be purchased at the door the day of the concert.

The Chorale performs under the direction of Joshua Brown. Mr. Brown is thrilled to be in his third season as the Artistic Director of CCC. He is currently in his final steps of doctoral studies at the University of North Texas. Mr. Brown is also the Director of Music at St. Philip Presbyterian Church in Hurst and is on the Voice Faculty at Marcus High School in Flower Mound. Mr. Brown served as the Director of Choirs at Coppell High School from 2012-2017. 

CCC is a non-audition, volunteer-based, non-profit arts organization. As one of Coppell's oldest community organizations, CCC enriches and educates the Coppell community by demonstrating outstanding leadership in the performance and preservation of choral music. Coppell Panhellenic hosts Dinner Meeting

All National Panhellenic Conference sorority alumnae are invited to attend our dinner meeting being held on Tuesday, May 14, at 6:30pm at Ole's restaurant, 600 E. Sandy Lake, Suite 106, Coppell, TX 75019. Join us for an update on various topics including our recent Sorority Information Session (SIS) and the slate of Officers for the 2019-2020 school year. Please feel free to bring a friend!

Just as the 26 National Panhellenic Conference sororities support their chosen philanthropies, so do the NPC Alumnae Panhellenic Chapters around the country including CAPA which has chosen I Support the Girls (ISTG). ISTG collects and distributes donations of new/used bras and new sealed packages of tampons

and maxi pads to homeless women and girls. CAPA welcomes donations of feminine hygiene items and/or any gently used or new bras you may have taking up space in your dresser drawers to show your support.

FCNP Guest Lecture Series – The Interesting World of Insects

May 18  |   10 am – Noon   |   Biodiversity Education Center

There are a total of 629 common bugs and Insects found in Texas in the Insect Identification database. Master Naturalist Judy Meagher will present a 1-hour PowerPoint about insects and then a 1-hour tour through the Nature Park pointing out the valuable contribution of nature's bugs. Admission is free. Pre-registration is required for all participants at www.coppellactivities.com.


14th Annual Defenders of Freedom Golf Outing

The monthly meeting of the Coppell Amateur Radio Enthusiasts (CARE) will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at 7 pm at Cozby Library and Community Commons. The meeting is open to the public and to hobbyists alike. Twilight Guided Hike

Explore Coppell Nature Park with an experienced Master Naturalist for a twilight guided hike. Guests will be encouraged to sharpen their senses to explore the thrilling sights, smells, and sounds of evening activity at Coppell Nature Park. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Hikers are asked to dress appropriately, wear close-toed shoes and bring a water bottle. Space is limited. Free. Pre-registration is required for all participants at www.coppellactivities.com
