Picture Book Contest

January 1 - 31  |   Cozby Library and Community Commons

Want to see your original picture book featured in our storybook walk? The library is hosting a picture book contest for kids in grades K - 12! All books must be submitted by Friday, January 31. First place winners will receive a bound copy of their book. A copy will be added to the library's local author collection, their book will be displayed on the Storybook Walk, and a digital copy will be available through Biblioboard. Second place winners will have a digital copy available through Biblioboard. Be original and have fun! Visit the library or website for guidelines, submission form, and page specifications before you start your picture book. Submissions must meet all the page specifications in order to be considered.

Interactive Harry Potter Movie

Harry's Hogwarts letter has arrived and you can come along on his journey. We will watch the original Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in a brand new way. Play along and participate as Harry begins his wizarding adventure. Interactive script and goodie bag provided. Costumes, wands, and wizarding attire encouraged! All ages welcome.


Coppell Writers Group

Join our new writers group! Get support, encouragement, and constructive criticism from other local writers. Learn new tips and gain some inspiration by working on optional writing exercises, timed writing opportunities, and chances to share writing samples with others. Writers of all levels are welcome. Facilitated by Amanda Kennedy and Tara Henderson. For older teens and adults.


Teen Crafternoon

Stamp into the New Year with a Teen Craft to set your intention for the new year. During this craft, teens will think about their focus for the new year and choose a word to represent it. They will then use metal stamping tools to imprint their intention on a piece of metal jewelry. All supplies provided. For teens in grades 6 - 12. Registration required. CSC – Technology Made Easy

Coppell Lions Club Meeting

The Coppell Lions Club meets every 1st and 3rd Monday. Each meeting includes the discussion of current and planned activities, as well as frequent guest speakers who discuss issues in and around Coppell, North Texas and Texas as a whole.

Meetings are open to anyone that would like to attend. You can contact the club and arrange for a member to sponsor you into the meeting.

Free CPR Class

January 9  |   6 – 9 pm   |   Life Safety Park

CPR AED is an instructor-led course that teaches critical skills needed to respond to and manage an emergency situation until emergency medical services arrives. Skills covered in this course include first aid, choking relief, and what to do for sudden cardiac arrest in adults, children, and infants. Please register online at LifeSafetyPark.org.


CSC - Cooking Class with Brulee Chef Services

Join Toni and Debra for a hands-on cooking class featuring fresh, whole foods. You will help prepare lunch, then enjoy the fruits of your labor. Advance registration required. $35 per person/per class.

Coppell Farmers Market

The Coppell Farmers Market is the best unique, small market in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Vendors feature grass-fed meats and poultry, organic eggs, artisan breads, honey, and other specialty products. Come out to the Farmers Market to find local healthy food, develop a relationship with those providing your food, meet up with friends and neighbors, and be a part of the local movement. What Your Ancestors Didn't Tell You

Learning about our ancestors provides intriguing insight into the lives of those who forged their paths generations before us. As we unravel genealogical mysteries through our own personal research, modern science provides us with a new tool for genealogists through DNA testing. Wild Day: Winter Birds

Fly down to the BEC to learn all about birds! Discover different types of birds, their adaptations in their environment, what foods they like to eat, and even make a bird feeder to take home! Wild Days are geared toward families and youth ages 3-14. These free "come and go" events feature hands-on learning/activity stations.


Coppell Historical Society Meeting

The Coppell Historical Society meets at Infeldt House on the second Saturday of the month from 1 to 3 pm. A short program concerning some aspect of Coppell history is given prior to the business meeting. Visitors are welcome.

Preschool Open House

SPOT Screening

Lions Club members will conduct a preliminary screening on children's eyes for various visual impairments. Prescriptions will not be issued. For children 6 months to 5 years old and any child with special needs.

Hot Chocolate and a Hike

Explore Coppell Nature Park with an experienced Master Naturalist for a winter guided hike. Start out with a hot beverage before setting out on the trails. Explore thrilling sights, smells, and sounds of the park. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Hikers are asked to dress appropriately, wear close-toed shoes, and bring a water bottle. No registration required, but space is limited. 


Teen Nite

Meet Your Neighbor: Conversations of Faith

Please join us to hear from a panel of community members as they tell their narratives and histories within their faith, in order to build deeper understanding and empathy. Audience members will have the opportunity to ask questions of the panelists in a safe and comfortable environment. This is an opportunity for all community members to share their experiences and learn from each other without debate or partisan opinions. In partnership with the Coppell Cultural Committee.

Topic: The 2020 Census, How Important is it?

Guest Speaker:  KumKum Jain

Kumkum Jain has been a Texas resident since 1973 and has lived in Plano since 1985. She was aPartnership Specialist for the Census Bureau in 2010 and has come out of retirement to do the same for Census 2020. Currently she is employed by the US Census Bureau representing the South Asian community for the DFW metroplex for the 2020 Census. She has 39+ years' experience as a sales and marketing professional for retail, consumer, technology and financial products and services. She was a commercial lender with focus on the South Asian market segment.

Kumkum is very active in the community. She has served as a board member on the US Indian Chamber of Commerce and volunteered on several community organizations. She was born in India and migrated to the United States in 1973. She has strong ties to the Indian Community in the US and in India. She has a master's degree in Physics from India and a Business education from Rice University in Houston. She has one married daughter and 2 grandsons who live in New York City.

Coding for Beginners

Chinese New Year

Share your story in scrapbook form! Bring your picture album and approximately 10 pictures and receive assistance in "telling your story." Decorative paper, embellishments, scissors, and adhesives are available. No registration required.
