The asphalt overlay project on South Belt Line Road between Southwestern Parkway and Hackberry Road is underway. Under the direction of the City of Coppell, Dallas County Roads and Bridges will complete roadwork on the inside turn lanes of South Belt Line Road by Sunday, April 15. Crews will begin laying asphalt on the main, inside lanes on the northbound side of South Belt Line on Monday, April 16. While crews are working, various sections of the roadway will be closed, and temporary signage and lane markers will be used to direct the flow of traffic. For the safety of the work crews, two lanes will be closed. Delays are expected, so please plan ahead and seek alternate routes.
About the Asphalt Overlay Project Roadwork on South Belt Line Road between Southwestern Parkway and Hackberry Road began on Monday, March 19. The City is laying asphalt on both the northbound and southbound sides of South Belt Line Road. The asphalt overlay began on the north side, and workers are shifting the construction zones until all areas have been completed.Portions of the roadway will continue to be closed while the work is completed.
Once the roadwork on South Belt Line is complete, asphalt overlay work will begin on South Royal Lane, between Sandy Lake Road and IH-635.
City Council approved the asphalt overlay during the February 13, 2018meeting. The City of Coppell is working in conjunction with Dallas County on this project, which presents a temporary solution that will allow for a smooth ride for drivers as traffic on these roads increases while Freeport Parkway is under construction. The asphalt overlay will be removed in the coming years, once Freeport Parkway is completed and concrete reconstruction begins on South Belt Line and Royal Lane.
