​Welcome to our Virtual Storytime Room! Click on the different objects in the room to find crafts, songs, and stories! Reading aloud to children of any age has numerous benefits, such as building empathy, increasing vocabulary, and facilitating a lifelong love of reading. Plus, it's a fun way to spend time together! We would love to see how you are doing storytime at home. Share your pictures of crafts or reading together with us on social media. ​

Monster Mouth Pouch

Supplies: Craft felt (2-3 sheets), Black embroidery floss, Buttons (for eyes - as many as you want/need), 4-inch zipper, Sewing needle, ~10 straight pins, Scissors, Ruler, Marker or Pen

Mini Top Hat

Supplies: 2 sheets of cardstock, Template, Paperclips, Hot glue, Scissors, Ruler, Headband or Bobby pin

Teen Crafternoon - Virtual event on 10/24

Supplies: 9x12 canvas, 2 oz. of dark acrylic paint, 2 oz. of white acrylic paint, painters or masking tape, 3+ paint brushes, paper plates or mixing palette, trash bag or drop cloth​.

Just fill out the form and our librarians will provide you with recommendations based on the information you provide within 5 to 7 business days. The SAG-AFTRA Foundation’s award-winning children’s literacy website, Storyline Online, streams videos featuring celebrated actors reading children’s books alongside creatively produced illustrations. Readers include Viola Davis, Chris Pine, Lily Tomlin, Kevin Costner, Annette Bening, James Earl Jones, Betty White and dozens more.

Music, sound effects, and character voices play at just the right moment, adjusting and responding to your voice as you read your favorite titles together. Promote language development, increase engagement, and make storytime a little more fun for kids (and grown-ups too!)

Read Together Be Together​

READ TOGETHER, BE TOGETHER is a nationwide movement developed by Penguin Random House in partnership with Parents magazine that celebrates the importance, and power, of the shared reading experience between an adult and a child. Reading aloud regularly to babies and young children is one of the most effective ways to foster early literacy and is a key factor responsible for building language and social skills.

Story Time from Space sends children’s books to the International Space Station. While in space, astronauts are videotaping themselves reading these books to the children of Earth. Reading Rockets​
Sometimes it just takes one wonderful book to turn a kid into a reader. Reading Rockets provides specific, lengthy themed lists for young readers.
Literature Map​
At Literature Map, you can type in an author’s name and then view similar authors that other readers are enjoying. The site generates a map that displays author names in relative states of closeness. The closer the authors, the more likely other readers enjoyed both.​
